Cutting from Daily Telegraph Travel winning article

Published: Just Back: How (not) to Cross a Volcanic Crater Lake in The Philippines

So I had the best Sunday wake-up call today when my friend Fern (@fernabouttown) messaged me to say my article on crossing a volcanic lake in the Philippines was published in Saturday’s Daily Telegraph Travel section!

The UK daily paper runs a weekly travel writing competition under its ‘Just Back’ from section and mine was the winner for that week. The Saturday paper has a circulation of 721,305 people, so it is fair to say I am pretty chuffed to be in print, particularly as it was my first attempt! It also comes with a little financial reward too, which makes it all the sweeter.

Here is a link to the full article: Just back: how (not) to cross a volcanic crater lake in the Philippines which you can view for free online.

My original blog post (which I changed heavily for the Telegraph submission) is here if you want a read of that too:

Philippines III: Taal Volcano and Manilla

Hope you like it! Happy Travels! x
